My review of Stephen King's Revival

The story is about Jamie, a 6-year-old boy and a young clergyman Reverend Charles Jacobs and the impact that the Reverend has on Jamie's life when the Reverend cures Jamie's brother by experimenting with electrical current so that the older boy regain his voice after he was hit by a ski pole. Then tragedy happens when the Rev's family is killed and after the Reverend gives an angry and grief stricken sermon and he is fired and vanishes. Years go by, Jamie falls in teenage love, plays in dozens of rock bands and then gets hooked on heroin and their paths cross again when Reverend Jacobs now going by Dan Jacobs cures Jamie of his heroin addiction. Jamie has some strange and dark side effects after that. Years later, the Reverend is a tent show preacher who still is curing people and Jamie decides he must stop the Reverend when Jamie finds out that some of the Reverend's other miracle cures seem to be experiencing strange and dark side effects too.
The story starts out slow because King is trying to establish the relationship that the two have. It starts to pick up more steam during Jamie's teen and adult years. There is only a few glimpses of the early King's dark and twisted world up until the closer towards the end. It was a good story and I read it in two days! Definitely worth it!

The story was interesting especially being able to peek into the characters thoughts. It makes me feel like a fly on the wall! Charlaine also brings back familiar characters from her other series. She also kept me wondering if certain characters were good or bad. I can’t wait to read more!

My review of the Divergent Trilogy by Veronica Roth...

Beatrice Prior lives in a future version of Chicago where there are five distinct factions. Each faction thinks one virtue is best: Dauntless are brave, Erudite love knowledge, Abnegation is pro-self-sacrifice, Amity is friendship, and Candor is straight talking. Beatrice grew up in an Abnegation family. When you turn 16 you have take a test to see what faction you show traits for and then you decide which faction you want to be in for the rest of your life. Beatrice or Tris decides that she doesn't show the virtue needed to stay in Abnegation and chooses Dauntless in order to become brave. She also can't reveal that her test results show that she is a Divergent which means she doesn't fit in with any one faction and Divergents don't end up alive if they are discovered. She uncovers a plot (with the help of her trainer/love interest Four) to start a war.
It was good, I finished all three books in about a week because I wanted to know what happened with Tris and Four. After reading the Hunger Games trilogy and now this, I'm getting burn out on the whole Dystopian concept. I still give it 4 stars out of 10 though and it is worth reading. I'm just on to something completely different!

My review of Dr. Sleep by Stephen King

Little Danny Torrence (Redrum!) grown up and trying to save kids with the Shining from evil people called "The True Knot" that suck the "steam" from the kids.

I am a Stephen King fan and I was one of the people that believed that Stephen should have left The Shining alone.  After many customers from my job told me that I should read it and it's really really good.  After much reluctance, I finally decided to read it.  I don't know why I waited so long!!!  What was I thinking??!!  The book was really good and very suspenseful and kept me on the edge of my bed (cause that's where I do all of my reading!).  I stayed up late just so I could finish the book because if I didn't, then I would have been disappointed in myself for not finishing the book and made myself wonder what would happen to Dan Torrence.  Definitely worth reading.  8.5 stars out of 10.
